WHAT CLIENTS SAY

In their own words

PN

Priya Nambiar

Expat resident, Nimmanhaemin

"We used the Document Inventory Walkthrough when my mother-in-law came to live with us. I had no idea where half her paperwork was or what it related to. The printed inventory we got at the end has been genuinely useful — we kept it in the filing drawer and have referred to it several times since."

"My father passed away a year ago and the experience of trying to find documents left us feeling that we should organize our own household before the same happened to us. The Archive Programme took about five weeks. The person who worked with us was patient and did not make us feel rushed. What we have now is clear and complete."

Laurent Favier

French resident, Chiang Mai

"As someone with documents spread across two countries, I needed someone who understood both Thai records and foreign paperwork. Vellum handled this without any difficulty. The summary document they prepared is in straightforward English that my children in France could read and understand if they ever needed to."

"We did the Conversation Sessions with my parents and my older brother. It was not a topic any of us had discussed properly before. The sessions gave us a structure and something to follow, and my parents felt heard rather than pressured. The printed guides were simple and have stayed on the shelf."

German resident, Santitham

"I used the Inventory Walkthrough as a first step — I wanted to understand what I actually had before thinking about the next step. It took about two and a half hours at my apartment. The practitioner asked sensible questions, noted things clearly, and the printed list was ready before she left. Good starting point."

Thitima Wongsuwan

Local family, Mae Rim

"Our household has land documents, bank books, insurance papers, and my husband's work-related records all mixed together. The Archive Programme sorted all of this into something labelled and logical. I was expecting it to take longer than it did — four sessions in six weeks — and the family briefing at the end was reassuring for our son who lives in Bangkok."

HOW IT WORKS IN PRACTICE

A few household stories

CASE STUDY 01 — HOUSEHOLD ARCHIVE PROGRAMME

The situation

A retired Thai couple in their late seventies had accumulated four decades of paperwork — land title documents, insurance policies, pension records, and a variety of accounts — with no system beyond memory.

What we did

Over four home visits across five weeks, we worked through every category of document, labelled everything clearly, built a home filing layout, and drafted a plain-language summary for their three adult children.

The result

A complete labelled archive and a four-page family summary that their children could read without any further explanation. The couple described the experience as "finally having a weight off."

"We should have done this years ago. Now everything is in one place and our children know exactly what to look for."

CASE STUDY 02 — PLANNING-AHEAD CONVERSATION SESSIONS

The situation

An expatriate couple, one British and one Thai, had never discussed their wishes formally and found the subject uncomfortable to raise directly. They wanted a structure to help them have the conversation.

What we did

Three sessions, two at their home and one at our office, using the Planning-Ahead frameworks. Each session had a clear topic and produced a set of written notes that both partners could review and add to between meetings.

The result

A complete set of written preferences and record notes covering both partners, plus signposting to legal and consular resources for the formal steps they chose to pursue independently.

"Having someone else lead the conversation made it much easier. We got further in three sessions than we had in years of meaning to talk about it."
